Build-a-Bot Workshop
Build your own 4‑wheel robot, one step at a time.
10 easy steps with 3D models you can spin around, a helper tip for grown-ups, and a quiz at the end. Ready, builder?

Step 0 โ Know your kit
Meet the parts
Tip out your kit gently and find each of these. Drag every part to spin it around in 3D!
Assembly garage
Build it with your own hands!
Drag every part onto its glowing spot โ then wire it all up, connection by connection.
Test track
Drive your robot!
Drive onto the gold star pad to earn stars. The robot's eyes auto-stop it before a crash!
๐ฏ Missions
๐ Real Robot Link โ drive the actual robot!
Plug your robot's brain into this computer with the USB cable โ then your D-pad and block programs drive the REAL robot at the same time as the 3D one!
Build a program in ๐งฉ Code it, send it over, press GO โ the robot beeps a 3-second countdown. Unplug the cable, set it on the floor, and it runs YOUR program all by itself!
๐งโ๐ง One-time setup: the Robot-Link sketch (for helpers)
Upload this little program to the Arduino once (USB cable โ Arduino IDE โ paste โ Upload). After that, click Connect my robot above and pick the Arduino's port from the list. Wheels off the floor for the first test! The robot auto-stops if the link ever goes quiet for 1 second.

The wiring map
Tap any wire in the picture (or a button below) to light it up and see what it does.
Tap a wire in the picture (or a button below) to light it up.
โ ๏ธ Every kit is a little different โ always check your kit's own chart first. The driver's ENA/ENB jumpers usually stay on.

Is your robot feeling funny?
Find your problem below โ almost everything has an easy fix. Grab your grown-up helper!
๐ A wheel spins the WRONG way
Easy one! That motor's two wires are swapped. Ask your helper to swap that one motor's red and black wires on the driver board โ done!
๐ด Nothing turns on at all
Check three things: Is the switch ON? Are the batteries fresh and facing the right way (flat end on the spring)? Are the battery box wires screwed in tight at the driver?
๐ก Lights are on, but the robot won't move
The brain might be empty! Ask your helper to upload the kit's code (the โsketchโ) over USB. Also check the driver's IN1โIN4 jumper wires โ one may have popped out.
๐ It spins in circles instead of going straight
One side's motors are wired backward, or left and right got mixed up. Make sure both LEFT motors go to one side of the driver and both RIGHT motors to the other โ then swap wires on the side that runs backward.
๐ The eyes never see anything (it keeps crashing)
Check the sensor's 4 pins are snug, and that TRIG and ECHO aren't swapped โ that's the #1 mix-up. The eyes must face forward and sit level, not pointing at the floor.
๐ข It moves, but super slowly
Tired batteries! Motors are hungry โ even half-empty batteries make a very sleepy robot. Try a fresh set before changing anything else.

The Builder's Quiz
One star for every right answer โ good luck, builder!
